WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, questioned Governor Kristi Noem, President-elect Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Homeland Security.
Slotkin’s questions focused on Gov. Noem’s responsibility, if confirmed, to address the significant threat of domestic terrorism threats; the need for reform of the nation’s broken immigration system; Gov. Noem’s responsibility to uphold her oath of office to protect the U.S. Constitution; the need for DHS to coordinate with state governors when deploying federal law enforcement officers; and the need to keep politics out of disaster assistance funding.
