Hegseth refuses to answer repeated questions about how he would stand up to illegal and unconstitutional orders

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, questioned U.S. Department of Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth at his nomination hearing. Slotkin is a former CIA officer who was deployed for three times in Iraq alongside active-duty military and served presidents of both parties in national security roles at the White House and Pentagon.

Slotkin’s remarks and questions of Hegseth focused on her role representing a state that voted for President-elect Trump, the responsibility and independence of the Secretary of Defense and the potential use of active-duty military on United States soil.
