WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) joined 17 Senate colleagues in introducing a resolution condemning President Donald Trump’s recent executive order to dismantle the Department of Education. In addition to condemning this move to gut the agency, the resolution also condemns actions to reduce federal public education funding and the freezing of federal education grant funding, and it highlights the importance of public schools in providing opportunities for all children across to succeed. 

This resolution is co-sponsored by Senators Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Edward Markey (D-MA), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Gary Peters (D-MI), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Bernie Sanders (D-VT), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Raphael Warnock (D-GA), Peter Welch (D-VT), and Ron Wyden (D-OR).
